First game back after the All-Star Game for both of these teams, fourth of six between the two. Colorado is 4-5-1 over their last ten, while the Oilers are 2-6-2. Also: I like tacos.
- Ryan O’Reilly leads the Avalanche in scoring. If you knew that, collect your prize. O’Reilly has 36 points (14-22-36) in 50 games.
- YES, that is Philippe Cornet on the second line. Cornet was pulled up from the OKC Barons earlier today and will dress in favour of Darcy Horidchuk. Cornet is having a pretty nice season for himself in the AHL, scoring 27 points (20-7-27) in 38 games. The game will be Cornet’s first NHL action, and he’s got some decent linemates to work with.
- Devan Dubnyk will be starting tonight for les Oilers. Dubnyk’s last two games have been absolutely stellar, turning aside 77 of 80 possible shots. Dubnyk’s numbers have gotten progressively better as the season marches along (7-11-1, 2.87 GAA, .910 SV%) Here’s hoping he as an extra save (or 36) in his blocker for tonight.
- Assume 94 points for the playoffs. The Oilers need 53 points to get there. That’s something like 25-5-3 over the next 33 games. So you’re telling me there’s a chance…
Dubnyk ready to play out of his mind once more. Right?
