Edmonton Oilers @ New York Islanders
31 DEC 2011 – 11:00 AM MDT
Your Game Preview is after the jump. Come on in.
Seriously?
Eleven AM?
On New Year’s Eve?
How are we supposed to do this?
Mimosas.
I’m going to take a stab and say that last game’s roster will ring true for the match-up in Long Island, with a couple of tweaks.
Here’s our guess:
F
Taylor Hall – Ryan Nugent-Hopkins – Jordan Eberle
Ryan Smyth – Shawn Horcoff – Ales Hemsky
Sam Gagner – Eric Belanger – Ryan Jones
Ben Eager – Anton Lander – Lennart Petrell
D
Ladislav Smid – Tom Gilbert
Corey Potter – Jeff Petry
Theo Peckham – Andy Sutton
G
Devan Dubnyk
Nikolai Khabibulin
-
Changes I’d expect to see: Petrell in for Hordichuk, Dubnyk for Khabibulin, Sutton in for Teubert.
- Not expecting Ryan Whitney to be a player today, as it was reported that he was only on the ice for a little bit in yesterday’s practice.
- THE BATTLE OF THE NOT SO PRETTY: Islanders are floundering in the East at 12-17-6 (30 PTS). Oilers are firmly planted in 13th in the West at 15-18-3 (33 PTS). Why not Edmonton today? WHY NOT
- QUICK, who’s leading the Islanders in scoring? Why it’s PA Parenteau, of course. Parenteau is having a career season, and currently sits at 30 points (6-24-30) in 35 games. Gotta admit, I wouldn’t have gotten that in five guesses.
- Andy Sutton is finally back after his eight game suspension. I’d never thought I’d be as excited as I am to announce that, but he’s an upgrade over the status quo. Ring out 2011 with two points, it’s a great way to kick start the afternoon. And the evening.
