- NUMBER FOUR: Taylor Hall returns after missing a couple of weeks with a shoulder injury. Hall sustained what looked to be a pretty awful shoulder injury in a game against the Avalanche on November 25th. I’m quite surprised he needed that little a time to heal from the hit. Here’s hoping he’s 100%, and so help me God if he’s being rushed back into the lineup.
Word on the street is that Khabibulin has been missing practices in order to rest. Point: he’s been playing the majority of the games so far this year, and I’m definitely not against giving the guy some scheduled maintenance days. Counterpoint: Four days off is a lot. Play it like you will, that’s a tonne of ‘maintenance’. Knowing all that, Devan Dubnyk is slated to start tonight in goal.
- FINALLY, Corey Potter is back after a month off with a sprained ankle. Along with Khabibulin, Potter has been a big surprise for the Oilers this year. Potter has eight points (2G-6A) in sixteen games so far, and he’s averaged over 20 minutes of ice time per contest.
- Ray Whitney leads the Coyotes in scoring (again). Whitney has 26 points (10G-16A) in 30 GP.
- MISC: Someone go buy Magnus Paajarvi a goal. Guy is scratched again, and his streak now sits at 25 games. Edmonton can tie Phoenix in the standings with a victory tonight. Peanut butter goes good with a banana.
