- The Edmonton Oilers come into Montréal after dropping their last match versus Phoenix 4-2. Montréal will also be looking to get back into the win column having dropped their last game to the Rangers 5-3. The Oilers currently sit at 8-3-2, the Canadiens are 5-6-2.
- LINE NOTES: Ales Hemsky is back in the lineup tonight. Hemsky gets scooted onto the second line along with Horcoff and Smyth, while Ryan Jones gets shuffled to 3LW with Belanger and Gagner. Magnus Paajarvi will sit this one out as a healthy scratch. Cam Barker is back in the defence ranks, while Colten Teubert is tonight’s odd man out on the blue.
PAAJARVI SITS: While it’s true that we all want the team’s first round draft picks to score 70 points each year. Magnus Paajarvi hasn’t found his step yet this year, and he’ll be out for tonight’s game. I’m never of the belief that sitting a guy for a game is going to quell whatever’s ailing his game, but a game on the bench tends to make a guy ‘hungry’. Hopefully this is the case.
- Nikolai Khabibulin gets the nod once again. Khabibulin is currently 6-0-2, and he’s allowed eight goals over that span. I like it. Let’s go with it. Carey Price is likely to start for the Canadiens. Price is 5-5-2 over a twelve game span.
