To no one’s surprise really, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has been named the NHL’s Rookie of the Month for October.
Nugent-Hopkins’ October was one that saw him average a point a game as an 18 year old rookie on an Oilers team that many predicted to start slowly out of the gate. The first line of Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall have scored over 40% of the team’s goals for the month. Nugent-Hopkins edged out Colin Greening of Ottawa, Gabriel Landeskog of Colorado, and Luke Adam of Buffalo for this month’s rookie honours.
Nugent-Hopkins finished with eleven points in eleven games, going 5-6-11 with +/- rating of 4.
Here’s a sample of his work against Roberto Luongo of the Vancouver Canucks.
