This is the first game for a team called the Winnipeg Jets against your Edmonton Oilers in fifteen years.
- No Anton Lander? Aw. Two goals in his last game, press box for this game. I bet you we see him on Wednesday versus the Calgary YoungStars.
- All eyes (at least one of mine) will be on self described ‘stay at home defenceman’ Wes Vannieuwenhuizen. The guy’s name is so long, that I just scrolled up to copy and paste it instead of typing it out. The 19 year old Vannieuwenhuizen hails from Chiliwack, and is with Edmonton on a tryout.
- Oilers dressing 13 forwards for this game, as Ryan Maritndale will play the spare.
- Admittedly, I’m looking for some first line fireworks after last game’s seven goal outburst. If Edmonton doesn’t score seven goals tonight, that’s just fine. I’d like to see Ryan Nugent-Hopkins shoot the puck. At least once. Tonight.
- Tyler Bunz gets the start in tonight’s matchup. He’ll look to meet or exceed Olivier Roy’s 22 save performance in Edmonton’s 7-2 victory over the Vancouver YoungStars.
- White sweaters tonight for the Oilers!
The Jets are expected to play in their practice sweaters tonight, as it’s been a giant rigmarole leading up to their sweater unveiling. Although strange, it’s not nearly as strange as this.
