Dwayne Roloson Gets His Contract

Less than 36 hours before the NHL’s free agency period begins, Yzerman and Co. welcome back former Oiler Dwayne Roloson into the mix for another year.

The ageless Dwayne Roloson has signed a $3M deal to keep him in Lighting threads for 2011-12.  After being acquired in a trade with the Islanders, Dwayne Roloson was a pillar between the pipes helping Tampa advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.  The Lightning were eventually defeated by the Bruins, who went on to win it all against Vancouver in seven games.

Speculation surrounded Roloson after his season ended against the Bruins.  At 41 years of age, would he retire?  Would he take a backup role on a team?  He won’t do either, and it’s on his terms.

Roloson gets one more shot at the big prize, and he’s got a nice little contract to boot.
