What’s to do?
- Oh, the humanity: With Edmonton’s shootout loss to the Avalanche over the weekend, the Oilers are now six points behind the Avalanche with one extra game played. While the team isn’t completely home free yet, the Oilers have a solid chance to land the 30th spot once again. If the Oilers happen to finish last, they’ll at least have the second overall draft pick coming this summer, and an excellent chance at another number one.
- The Oilers haven’t had too awful much success in the win-loss column this year, but they’ve had Nashville’s number this year going 2-0-1 in three meetings. The Oilers will have a chance to make it seven out of a possible eight overall points with a victory tonight.
- Devan Dubnyk is getting the go-ahead tonight between the pipes. He’ll likely be kept busy against a team hungry for additional points in a push to the playoffs. Dubnyk has a sparkly .969 SV% against the Preds this year to go with his 0.96 GAA.
- Martin Erat is Nashville’s leading scorer with 44 points (14G-30A) in 57 games so far this year.
Energy is what will carry this team. It’s not going to be pretty. If Edmonton can start early, then there’s a chance to spoil. Nashville has 86 points going into tonight’s game, just one ahead of eighth place LA who has 85.
