Normally, I’m not too jazzed up about terms like ‘exploratory surgery’, but that’s exactly what Oiler centre Sam Gagner underwent yesterday in Washington to figure the extent of his hand injury he suffered while on the bench versus the Capitals.
Sam Gagner will be placed on the shelf for the remainder of the 2010-11 NHL season after suffering what is being called a season ending injury from what is being reported as Ryan Jones’ skate, as Jones was either hopping the boards or coming back after a shift.
Gagner remained in Washington for exploratory surgery after the Oilers’ loss to Washington in order to determine the extent of his injury.
He finishes the 2010-11 campaign with 42 points (15G-27A) in 68 games.
