Bits And Pieces - Ducks @ Oilers Hockey Game Preview

Tonight is the night that Nikolai Khabibulin breaks his fourteen game losing streak.

Hold that thought – Dubnyk looks to be getting the call.

I try to accentuate the positive.

We Might See A Goalie Today

The Mighty Ducks Of Anaheim Anaheim Ducks @ Edmonton Oilers – Game 56

And here we go…

  • The Oilers still retain the services of one of their most potent offensive weapons in Ales Hemsky…for now.  Hemsky notched two assists in Edmonton’s 5-3 defeat at the hands of the Ottawa Senators yesterday.  Lowetide had a (nother) great post this morning that accentuated if Edmonton deals Hemsky, they need to receive 100 cents on the dollar coming back.  Truer words have never been spoken.
  • Since returning from his freak ankle injury, Jordan Eberle has six points in his last five games (2G-4A).  *tangent* What happens when ‘the future’ is now?  Do we all get on a couch and speed dial on whatever mobile apparatus is hot that month, and we call each other up and say stuff like THE FUTURE IS HERE and our robot forwards score sixteen goals a game, and Lieutenant Dubnyk stops fifty-six shots?

The point I was going for is that Jordan Eberle has had himself a nice little stretch since coming back from a month-long ankle injury.  How’d I do?

  • Corey Perry leads the Ducks in scoring with 59 points (28G-31A) in 56 games.  Worth reading that one again.
  • Expecting to see Jonas Hiller start in goal for the Ducks today – Hiller had been activated off of IR from what appeared to be exhaustion (the release calls it ‘fatigue/lightheadedness’.  Take your pick).  Curtis McIlhenny and Ray Emery are now options for the Ducks at goal also, but it would surprise me to not see Jonas Hiller between the pipes this evening.

Enjoy the game, and GOILERS.

Men Without Hats – I Got The Message (1983).  I’m on a Rhythm of Youth kick as of late.  Enjoy.
