And away we go…

  • Third out of four meetings between these two clubs, it is also the first of a two game road trip for les Oilers.  Devan Dubnyk has gotten both starts against Phoenix so far this year, and with Khabibulin out with his ‘undisclosed injury’ as of late, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Dubnyk get his third shot at Phoenix tonight.
  • Keith Yandle is the leading scorer for these Phoenix Coyotes.  Yandle has 40 points (7G-33A) in 49 games this season.  Watch out for the ageless Ray Whitney, who has himself four assists in two games against the Oilers this year.
  • The powerplay is currently sitting on a streak of 1-for-52 since the middle of December.  Tonight is the night that all changes.  The stars will align just so perfect that an errant puck will bounce off of the right leg of one Magnus Paajarvi behind Ilya Bryzgalov.  Or Jason LaBarbera.  Or the equipment guy they’ll have playing in net tonight.  It’s all the same.
  • Keep your eyes on Jeff Petry again tonight.  While he may not yet be the sight for sore eyes on defence, him not getting his name mentioned in the “jeers” column is a warm enough action in itself.

Enjoy the game, and GOILERS
