Things to look for
- Defenceman Shawn Belle will make his Oilers debut tonight on the blue line, filling in for Ladislav Smid who is out with reports of a concussion sustained from the Avery incident over the weekend. Jim Vandermeer will start tonight in favour of Jason Strudwick, and Theo Peckham has recovered from his wrist injury enough to start. According to the injury report, Magnus Paajarvi has a stomach flu and will also be absent.
- It’s no secret that Edmonton has had quite the time with former Oilers this season. Oiler favourite and current Blackhawk Fernando Pisani had Chicago’s lone tally in the last meeting between the two clubs.
- Patrick Sharp is currently leading the Blackhawks with 19 points in 19 games. Unfortunately, he’s also leaking with a -11 plus/minus.
- Will be interesting to see Chicago’s choice in netminder tonight. Turco struggled mightily against the Oilers in Edmonton’s first visit to the United Center. Corey Crawford was victorious in Chicago’s last game, a 3-2 OT victory against Anaheim. It’ll be almost as interesting to see who starts between the pipes for the Oilers.
Enjoy the game, and GOILERS.
