The hope is that you and I get to hear those words about six hundred times over the next couple of decades. Wouldn’t that be something? Photos from today’s sweater number unveiling after the jump.
It’s official. After much speculation, Taylor Hall has been given sweater number four. Only Kevin Lowe has sported the number four in the team’s NHL history.
Four is a pretty big deal in Edmonton, and seeing it on the back of a sweater again is exciting news. It’s a signal by management that a new era is being ushered in. It’s also a pretty classy move on Kevin Lowe’s part to say the least, and it’s a short, succinct number for a player that has expectations bordering on astronomical.
Not to be swept under by Hallamania, Magnus Paajarvi will sport the number 91, and Jordan Eberle will wear number 14.
Here’s a link to Kevin Lowe speaking on Taylor Hall and the number four. I don’t care what you say, it’s a big deal. Lowe says he thinks Hall “looks good” in 4, but I’m inclined to believe that Lowe had a little input in the matter.
All three Oiler rookies (and a whole lot more) will be playing at the YoungStars tournament starting on September 12th in Penticton, BC. Here’s a look at Edmonton’s roster. All Oiler games will be streamed live on edmontonoilers.com
